15th August 2011 - New Season Update
After two postponements due to bad weather (yes, it's August!) and a farcical call off on Saturday, Thistle will kick off the new season at home to league leaders Mintlaw on Monday night. The visitors are already three games in and have claimed maximum points with victories over Bucksburn, FC Polska and Grammar. The Jags will be targeting an immediate return to Division One after suffering relegation by the narrowest of margins in May. If they are to be successful, they will need to improve their home form after losing 10 of their 16 fixtures at The Meadows last season. The loss of top scorer Michael Wild until October 2012 is a massive blow but former Huntly & Turriff United striker Keith Reid is a more than adequate replacement. It is believed Thistle will also attempt to lure former Jag David McKeitch and defender Chris Allsop from Ellon United. Cammy Davidson returns to the club after a couple of seasons away and further changes include former skipper Ryan Birnie moving to the 'dark side' and signing for Ellon Amateurs while Andy MacLean ended his long association with the club. Meanwhile, off the park, Arthur Killicoat makes a return and he joins Les Forbes in assisting manager Kevin Kennedy with the tactical tombola.
3rd August 2011 - Blackburn 4 Ellon Thistle 3
A much improved performance saw Thistle narrowly defeated at Blackburn on Wednesday night. The visitors led 2-0 and 3-1 but failed to hang on to their advantage. Keith Reid, Michael Wild and Cammy Davidson grabbed the goals.
29th July 2011 - Ellon Thistle 2 Dee Amateurs 3
A disappointing performance from Thistle on Friday night saw them go down 3-2 to newly formed Dee Amateurs. The Jags trailed 3-0 at half time but goals in the second half from Mark Kennedy and Keith Reid reduced the deficit.
28th July 2011 - Cup Draws
Thistle will face Kincorth at home in the 2011/12 AFC Trophy and have been awarded byes in The Dickie Trophy and Castle Rovers Cup.
25th July 2011 - Westdyke 6 Ellon Thistle 0
