Thistle's game with Hazlehead United at Inverdee on Saturday was postponed but the two teams clash at The Meadows on Wednesday night in a league encounter. On Saturday 19th April, Thistle will travel to Sheddocksley to face BSFC in another fixture that has fallen victim to the weather on a number of occasions. Meanwhile, Saturday evenings entertainment was provided by The Meadows Race Night Fundraiser where Race 5 was sponsored by The Bridge Bar (Ellon Thistle FC). The early favourite for the race was horse number 1, It Wiznae Me ridden by Graeme Giles. It was his first ride of the year but unfortunately he still failed to come in. In the end, Ian Birnie won the race by a short head.

25th March 2008 - Match Postponed, One In A Million

Thistle's cup tie with McTeagle was postponed on Saturday due to the adverse weather conditions. Also a quick mention is required for Thistle's number one Andy Dickinson who brought a tear to a glass eye with a touching speech at his 21st birthday party. You're one in a million Andy!

10th March 2008 - Randy In Drop Shocker, Stabber Rumour, Next Fixture

There was a glaring omission from Saturday's starting eleven to face Ellon Amateurs after Manager Kevin Kennedy relegated Martyn Duncan to the bench due to recent below-par performances. The midfielder was less than impressed but was given his opportunity to shine late in the game. Meanwhile, rumours surfaced that full back David Anderson had spat the dummy after he was the target of persistent verbal attacks from the sideline during last weeks defeat to McTeagle. These rumours were soon quashed when it was established his no-show on Saturday was a result of a rough night of cider and glow sticks. Finally, this weeks fixture sees Thistle host Newtonhill in the AFC Trophy.

3rd March 2008 - Ellon Derby

The fixture list for Saturday 8th March sees Ellon Thistle paired with local rivals Ellon Amateurs. Thistle will be looking to get their promotion chase back on track after Saturday's debacle against McTeagle.

19th February 2008 - Ellon Thistle 1 The Station 2

Summer league side The Station shocked Ellon Thistle on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 victory. With just ten available players for the game, Thistle called upon goalkeeper Stevie High, striker Pistol Pete Lindsay and veteran midfielder Craig Emslie for the friendly match. After going a goal behind early on, Thistle responded with a goal from Richard Longmuir but sloppy defending allowed the visitors to snatch victory. Unsurprisingly, Russell 'The White Pele' Cannon was unable to find the net for The Station.

12th February 2008 - Friendly Arranged For Sunday 17th February

With no competitive match this weekend, a friendly has been arranged at The Meadows against summer league side The Station Hotel. Kick-off is at 2.30pm and players are asked to be at the venue an hour beforehand. That would be 1.30pm for the benefit of Stabber and Nelly.

10th February 2008 - No Fixture For Saturday February 16th

With a number of players unavailable on Saturday 16th February, Thistle have been granted a free week. 17th January 2008 - Bundy's Dance Workout DVD available in time for Christmas

Thistle defender Bruce Alexander has been spotted at a step aerobics class. Die-hard Thistle fan Chris Watson's revelation came as a shock to the big man's team mates. It is unconfirmed whether the defender was fully clad in lycra and sweat bands but his sexuality is now in question. It is believed Alexander plans to produce a DVD to rival that of Jade Goody which should hit all good DVD stores, but more likely the bad ones, in time for Christmas.

16th January 2008 - Kev K for Newcastle?

Players and staff at Ellon Thistle were delighted yesterday when it was confirmed that Thistle's very own Kevin Kennedy was not the Kev K that had been approached to take over the managerial vacancy at Premiership side Newcastle United. Rumours were rife that Kennedy was being lined up for the hotseat and speculation intensified when he did not turn up to take Wednesday's training session at The Meadows. However, the rumours were quashed when Newcastle legend Kevin Keegan made a return to the club.

10th January 2008 - Newly Crowned Pub Watch Ambassador

This week, Ellon Thistle unveiled Graeme Giles as their latest Pub Watch Ambassador. He succeeds Neil Murray in the role after being awarded a six month ban from all pubs in the Ellon area. The frustrated toothless booze swiller vehemently denies having a square go with the Buchan juker and looks set to appeal against his punishment. Just a week into his ban and reports suggest bar takings at The Bridge are down by 50%.

6th January 2008 - Happy New Year, Saturday Fixture, Bust Lips At Strikers

Happy new year! Thistle will be hoping to start the year by turning over Turriff Thistle at home in what promises to be another humdinger of a game. The fixture on Saturday will complete a sequence of matches against the top three in the division and Ellon will hopefully continue the free scoring of their previous match without the carnage at the back. With no fixture on the 5th of January, Team Thistle invaded Strikers for a seven-a-side encounter which initially appeared to be a brutal affair with bust lips and black eyes for Graeme Giles and Stephen Cruickshanks. In the end, Andy MacLean's strategically selected side came out on top in a thrilling match which included countless jungle runs from stalwart Ian Bailey and an outstanding performance in goal by Neil 'The Cat' Henderson.

23rd December 2007 - Duncan Hits Back, Saturday Fixture

Martyn Duncan hit back at his critics who questioned his commitment to the league campaign with a man-of-the-match performance in the division two encounter with leaders Glendale XI. However, it is understood the midfielder was easily confused by the mention of "cup final" in the pre-match build up by manager Kev Kennedy. Meanwhile, Thistle face another tough challenge on Saturday 29th December as they travel to Cammachmore where three points are vital after last weeks defeat.

17th December 2007 - Fixture For Saturday 22nd December

Thistle will be looking to continue their recent good form which has seen them win their last three games when they travel to Sheddocksley to face league leaders Glendale XI. Ellon threw away a two-goal advantage in the previous league meeting between the sides in August and will be aiming to avenge that defeat with a victory and maintain their challenge for the league title.

17th December 2007 - Fans Question Duncan's League Commitment

Martyn Duncan's commitment to the league campaign has been questioned after another outstanding cup performance. His three man-of-the-match awards have all been awarded after cup encounters therefore there are doubts as to whether the midfielder was up for the league title fight. He was unavailable for comment as rumours surfaced that he was lost in his shoe.

17th December 2007 - Spot Kick Duty For Bundy?

After yet another penalty miss, the fifth of the season, surely the voice of the fans should be heard and Bruce 'Bundy' Alexander should be assigned spot-kick duty. A massive 43% voted in favour of the big man assuming the role of penalty taker but he has yet to be given the opportunity.

9th December 2007 - Beaton In 90 Minute Shocker

Thistle manager Kev Kennedy stunned midfielder Steven Beaton on Saturday by giving him the full ninety minutes for the first time since....ever. Understandably, Beaton was breathing out his ass at the final whistle but there were more surprises as the midfielder also won a header during the course of the second half.

5th December 2007 - Formartine Utd U19's 3 Ellon Thistle 3

Thistle produced a woeful display on a bitterly cold Monday night in Oldmeldrum. A Neil Murray brace and a late equaliser from Steven Beaton salvaged a draw against the young Formartine side who had a number of chances throughout the game. The performance was deemed so bad, the players were given their own kits to wash. However, this is perhaps the sign of real promotion candidates as without performing particularly well, Thistle battled to the end and avoided defeat.

1st December 2007 - Local Rivals Fail To Aid Thistle's Promotion Chase

Only one game went ahead in Division Two East on Saturday and it took place at the Meadows as Thistle's rivals Ellon Amateurs hosted Turriff. Ellon were looking for their second win on the trot but went down 2-1 against Thistle's promotion challengers who move up to second place.

26th November 2007 - Ellon Thistle 0 Ellon United 1

Thistle faced up to their junior rivals in a friendly training match at the Meadows on Monday night and were very unfortunate to lose out. In a match they dominated, Thistle played some attractive football and looked the better side for the majority of the match. Experience showed in the latter stages and a great strike from a United midfielder gave the junior side the victory.

20th November 2007 - Penalty Poll Surprise

Although early days, a surprise leader in the penalty taker poll has emerged. Bruce Alexander, an unlikely choice for most has stormed into an early lead. Latest results will be relayed to management before Saturdays fixture.

12th November 2007 - Weekend Fixture

The fixtures for the forthcoming weekend paired third placed Ellon Thistle with second placed Cammachmore at The Meadows. This league fixture was abandoned last month due to a serious injury to a Cammachmore player. The evenly contested encounter was just 55 minutes old and there had been no score. Thistle will be hoping to improve on their most recent performances and get back to winning ways on Saturday.

10th November 2007 - Another Cup Exit

Thistle suffered their second successive cup defeat as they were beaten 4-0 at home by Stoneywood. After last weeks dismal 2-0 loss at Woodside, Thistle were unable to get the better of a well organised Stoneywood side who ran out convincing winners. Match Report

24th October 2007 - Training Shocker

Billy Dailly, Michael Wild and Paul Bassett stun the rest of the squad by all turning up for training. After last weeks poor turn out, efforts had been made to persuade the regular 'no-shows' to put in a shift on Wednesday night. It is unknown if this will continue in future weeks.
